Italian Meatball Sub

This delicious sub uses Tasty Kitchen Creations Italian Seasoning and comes together quickly and makes for a great weekday meal.

For an even quicker meal, prepare meatballs ahead of time and reheat in prepared sauce before assembling sandwich.

4 servings

YOU NEED:

1 lb. lean ground pork (or turkey)

3 TBSP Tasty Kitchen Creations Italian Seasoning, divided

1 cup pasta (or tomato) sauce

4 Submarine Buns

Garnishes: Sliced - raw (or sauted) sweet bell peppers, mozzarella cheese

What you do:

Preheat oven to 350° F.

In a mixing bowl combine ground meat and 2 TBSP of the seasoning mix.

Divide into 24 firmly rolled meatballs. Place prepared meatballs on sprayed (or parchment lined) baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until fully cooked. Optional: top meatballs with a little shredded mozzarella cheese and place back in oven for a couple of minutes to melt the cheese.

Meanwhile, stir pasta sauce and 1 TBSP seasoning mix to a small sauce pan. Over medium heat bring sauce to the bubbling stage, stirring occasionally.

Turn heat in oven to broil. Cut submarine buns in half lengthwise 3/4 of the way through so they open into a V shape. Lay opened buns on a baking sheet. Place under broiler for a couple of minutes until buns are slightly toasted and beginning to lightly brown around the edges (watch closely!).

Spoon heated sauce on toasted bun. Add bell peppers (if using) and divide meatballs between buns.

Optional: top with more sauce and more mozzarella and toast in oven (set back to 350° F) for 3 - 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
